Sweden national football team crushed Tunisia 5-1 in the World Cup opener. Alexander Isak was the man of the match with four goals. In the seventh minute, he disrupted Tunisia's goalkeeper Mouhib Chamakh, which led to Yasin Ayari scoring 1–0. In the 30th minute, Isak scored the 2–0 goal from distance after a counter-attack. Tunisia equalized in the last minute of the first half, but Isak secured the 3–1 goal after an hour of play. He stole the ball from Tunisia's captain Ellyes Skhiri and served Viktor Gyökeres a clear scoring opportunity. In the 84th minute, Isak broke through the ball to Mattias Svanberg, who scored a goal directly after his entry. Yasin Ayari scored his second goal of the match – the only Swedish goal not assisted by Isak. Sweden has now set itself in a golden position to advance to the round of 16 in the World Cup. The two best teams in all 12 groups qualify, and the same applies to the eight best third-placed teams. Sweden leads group F ahead of the Netherlands and Japan, who played 2–2 earlier in the night.
