Glenn Solberg Appointed Sweden Coach: Sweden Aims for World Cup 2026 Victory
Glenn Solberg has been appointed Sweden's new coach. He will lead the team in the 2026 World Cup and aims to win the title. Solberg has previously coached in Norway and has experience of leading a team to the title.
Sweden's new coach is eager to get started. Today, he is employed by the Swedish Handball Federation on 20 percent and his workdays are spent watching videos and doing groundwork before the job is done, where the employment will become 100 percent on January 1, 2020.
Things will get serious from April, when the team will start qualifying for the Olympics – assuming Sweden does not take a direct spot to Tokyo through the 2020 European Championship, which will be Kristjan Andreasson's farewell match as Sweden's coach.
Sweden's last match was a 3-0 loss to France on June 30, 2026. The team has a loss in its last 5 matches, with a win, 4 losses.
Sweden's next match is against Romania at home on September 25, 2026.
